It is a common belief that airconditioning gas gets used up like fuel or oil. If your airconditioning system has “run out of gas” it has leaked out.

Lots of workshops advertise cheap regassing – not a good option to use! Invariably the customer is disappointed down the track when the airconditioner is not cold anymore. It’s like pumping up a flat tyre without fixing the puncture, but it costs money. The “regas” is performed, but no leak checking is done. We hear so many sad stories like this, its very disappointing for the customer who has wasted their money. Often the people that offer this service are not even licenced & use in-correct refrigerant not specified for later model vehicles.

At Southern Radiators we find the leak and repair it before system is recharged with refrigerant. If we cannot detect the leak using UV light, we pressure test the system with tracer gas to find the leak. When the leak is detected, the customer is contacted and advised of what repairs need to be done and quoted. Once the repairs have been undertaken, then the system is recharged with refrigerant. The vehicle will then be run and checked.
  • Licenced airconditioning technicians
  • National Refrigerant Trading Authorisation
  • ARC member- (Australian Refrigeration Council)

The national licensing system is aimed at minimising emissions of harmful ozone depleting and synthetic greenhouse gas refrigerants. Refrigerant is only handled by licenced technicians. Equipment such as vacuum pumps, leak detectors and recovery units are regularly serviced, and audits are performed randomly.
